Welcome to Emergency Management
Austin Community College’s top priority is providing a safe and secure environment in which to learn and work. The Emergency Management function, a part of the college’s Safety and Environmental Management Department, is charged with planning for unexpected incidents to maximize safety and minimize risk.
Planning is based on the four interconnected phases of emergency management: prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.
- Prevention/Mitigation — Identifying and preventing/minimizing the consequences of hazards to ACC.
- Preparedness — Improving resilience through planning, training, raising awareness, and collaborating with ACC’s community partners.
- Response — Effectively communicating and implementing emergency procedures in response to threats and real incidents with the goal of saving lives, protecting property, and minimizing damage to the environment.
- Recovery — Ensuring continuity of academic and business functions while supporting the ACC community, remediating damage, and rebuilding stronger than before.
Everyone has a responsibility for their own safety and security. Familiarize yourself with the information and resources available via the menus on this page. By doing so you can get informed, know your role, learn how to participate, and make a plan.
